Leadership Influence and Engagement

Leaders have influence! Did you know that managers account for 70% of the variance in team engagement and heavily influence employee well-being and that employees who feel engaged are 87% less likely to leave their company than disengaged employees?

As leaders, the ability to attract and retain quality staff is impacted by our attitudes and approaches. Meaningful staff engagement has become a significant factor in the way our organizations successfully operate. Purposeful engagement begins with understanding our own leadership styles and behaviors. Appreciating both our leadership strengths and challenges, and how they intersect with staff needs can impact staff retention.  Building influence among the team begins by building trust with transparent and authentic communication, structure and accountability. When senior leadership or middle management do not have the experience or understanding necessary to put these skills into place, staff can become frustrated and leave.

Copernicus has developed a six-session “bootcamp” that will assist long-term care leaders in enhancing staff engagement and developing practical strategies to build a revitalized and stable workforce. This work begins by focusing on the essential role of leaders and the actionable strategies that assist in creating a highly committed workforce. Each session explores leadership values and behaviors which are crucial to successful relationship building between leaders and staff. Content encompasses effective communication, self-awareness, leadership influence, staff well-being, psychological safety, the role of accountability, trust and ways to embed these practices in your organization. Session topics include:

  1. Engaged Employees Spring from Engaged Managers
  2. The Secrets that Make Staff Want to Come to Work
  3. The Way We Speak and Listen to One Another: Creating a Connected Workforce
  4. Accountability: The Thing that No One Wants to Talk About
  5. Staff Recruitment and Retention: It’s Not About “Filling Holes”
